Real-Time PCR Workshop

Enhance Your qPCR Skills in 2 Days!

Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), also known as quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR), is a powerful, accurate and sensitive technique to measure nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) quantitatively. Due to its specificity, fidelity, and efficiency, qPCR has been using in a wide range of applications, including diagnostic uses, quantification of gene expressions, detection of genetically modified organisms, clinical quantification and genotyping, etc. Despite the relative ease of use of the qPCR system, the high-quality qPCR results are hard to obtain, since the results can be affected by many experimental variables. Hence, the goal of this workshop is to help you to improve your qPCR skills, as well as get good quality and publishable qPCR results! Here, we provide Advanced Workshop for those experienced qPCR users who want to enhance their qPCR skills.

What will you learn?

  • Fundamental of qPCR and its application
  • How to set up appropriate qPCR experiment
  • Theory and hands on experience in qPCR primer and probe design
  • Hands on experience in preparing qPCR mix and set up qPCR machine
  • Generation of standard curve and data analysis on (a) Relative quantification (b) Absolute quantification

Where and When?

We can conduct this workshop in laboratory of your choice (laboratory within Klang Valley) or in Next Gene Scientific on any weekday (excluding public holidays).

Tough Sample Preparation Workshop

Learn How to Isolate DNA from Your Plant, Environmental and Hard-to-Lyse Sample in 3 Hours

It is crucial to isolate pure and intact DNA for any molecular studies. However, it is always challenging to isolate high-quality and large quantity of DNA from some sources, especially from environmental, plant, soil and stool. The two common factors which led to poor DNA isolation: incomplete lysis of cells that lead to low yield of DNA and high amount of contaminants in the tough sample. Contaminants such as humic acid and polyphenols, can interact with nucleic acids during DNA isolation usually lead to failure in downstream applications. Hence, the goals of this workshop are to help researchers to understand further why it is hard to get pure DNA from environmental, plant, soil, stool & some other hard-to-lyse samples, learn how to lyse samples effectively, and know how to extract high-quality and large quantity of pure intact DNA from the tough and resistant samples. In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to perform efficient DNA extraction using FastPrep-24™ 5G from MP Biomedicals.

What will you learn?

  • You will learn how to isolate high-yield and high-quality DNA from tough samples, eg. plant, environmental, fecal, soil, tooth and bone samples.
  • You will have the chance to interact with our experienced and knowledgeable trainer.
  • If you have the tough samples ready, feel free to bring them along to the workshop (maximum 2 samples per pax), and you will get purified DNA on the spot.
  • You can learn from the expert!
